I bought this about a month ago to put in my small apartment room as a desk and it's perfect. It's a nice dark finish, tall and narrow and feels sturdy enough like wood. I use the top shelf for a small 15 inch TV and the second shelf for books. The desk shelf folds nicely, and my 15 inch laptop fits juust right when put away and there is room for my mouse on the side. The hinges are one of the few pieces that don't perfectly align but with the wood glue it's acceptable. There are little pull out support beams you have to pull out yourself under the desk shelf which is whatever, unless you forget which puts too much strain on the little hinges. The fourth and bottom shelf is quite large and sturdy, supports the weight of two cats and I can put my feet on it while using my laptop and still have room for my DVDs and computer games. As far as packaging, the box itself was very well wrapped in bubble wrap. The items inside were protected by styrofoam and those thin styrofoam sheets. All intact, no scratches. Instructions were easy to follow and it was simple enough to put together with two people, took about 2 hours. All in all very pleased, I love this desk.
